UNAIDS in 2007 published a short and comprehensive policy brief on GIPA

Two different pyramids of involvement have been developed. Figure 1 is the pyramid as developed by UNAIDS in 1999, which was included in their publication "From Principle to Practice". Figure 2 is the pyramid as developed by Chris W. Green from Indonesia. The pyramid as developed by Green is set up from a PLHIV point of view.
