PLHIV consult on new TB Guidelines
GNP+ and other networks of people living with HIV and HIV and TB activists late 2009 provided recommendations to the new Tuberculosis (TB) Guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). To develop the recommendations, GNP+ organized an international electronic consultation. ICW organised face to face consultations in Southern Africa.
Unpacking HIV stigma in prevention trials
The Working Group on New Prevention Technologies (NPTs) during one of its teleconference meetings was joined by Ms Mitzy Gafos, principal investigator of the PRO 2000 Microbicide Trial in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Kwazulu Natal has a high prevalence of HIV, where half of the women between 25 and 29 years are living with HIV.
First Human Rights Count! training in Zambia
Human Rights Count! is an evidence gathering programme documenting HIV related human rights violations against people living with HIV both through an online questionnaire and through face to face interviews. In the joint GNP+/WAC programme "HIV leadership through accountability" Human Rights Count! is one of the evidence collecting programmes that will feed into the national campaign of Kenya, Zambia and Nigeria.
In the week of 14-19 September 2009, the first training of trainers using the Human Rights Count questionnaire took place in Zambia. The 20+ participants have now returned to the respective towns and villages to train others to use the tools.
GNP+, UNAIDS and US Government consult on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention
GNP+, UNAIDS and US government agencies – the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Defense and US Agency for International Development – met in Geneva on the 21-22 October 2009 for a consultation on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention. The three parties all work on HIV prevention with people living with HIV. At the meeting they explored synergies, differences and complementarities in their programmatic work on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention.
Mastering new skills in Viet Nam
The network of people living with HIV in Viet Nam (VNP+) held a two-day training on data collection (24-25 June 2010) to enable VNP+ data collectors to gather the experiences and perspectives of people living with HIV for a study on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention.
