Young people now comprise the largest population in the world. Almost three billion people – nearly half the world’s population – are under 25 years old. It is both the responsibility and the right of young people to advocate and campaign for all countries to achieve universal access for prevention, care, treatment, and support of HIV and AIDS. The 2008 United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV and AIDS was one in a series of opportunities for young people to interact with global government and civil society to ensure that United Nations (UN) member states are held accountable for progress made toward the goal of universal access by 2010.
A
Progressive Youth Caucus strategising meeting was organised on June 8
by the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights.
