From the perspective of people living with HIV, Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention involves the following: a supportive legal and policy environment; focusing on holistic health promotion, not only on transmission prevention; tailored to setting, key populations, and to the individual; defined by people living with HIV. Human Rights of People living with HIV

To address the human rights of people living with HIV, GNP+ is working on three major programmes with the aim of enabling people living with HIV to fight stigma and discrimination and enjoy full human rights. These programmes are mainly directed to evidence collection.

HIV-related stigma and discrimination are widely recognized as barriers to accessing HIV prevention, treatment and care services. Without concerted action, the goal of universal access will be impossible to achieve.

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

Through different programmes GNP+ advocates for people living with HIV to be able to strive towards enjoying  full, pleasurable sex lives and have access to a range of reproductive options. GNP+ continues to build evidence on the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of People living with HIV and whether or not their needs are being appropriately met.

GNP+ is proactively engaging with key populations of people living with HIV to understand the context in which sexual and reproductive health and rights are enabled or denied to document the realities of individual lived experience of PLHIV around the world. GNP+ has gained a comprehensive understanding of the key SRHR and PLHIV policy discussions and positions at a global level. The evidence that was gathered is now becoming available, and results are being translated into advocacy.

Empowerment of people living with HIV

Under the theme of Empowerment GNP+ programmes aim to ensure that people living with HIV are involved in all decision-making processes that affect their lives.

People living with HIV have unique expertise to bring to the table – to inform governments where and how programmes can be strengthened and improved. It is therefore important to increase the skills of many more people living with HIV so that they have the confidence to speak out in key decision-making forums.
