To address the human rights of people living with HIV, GNP+ is working on three major programmes with the aim of enabling people living with HIV to fight stigma and discrimination and enjoy full human rights. These programmes are mainly directed to evidence collection.

HIV-related stigma and discrimination are widely recognized as barriers to accessing HIV prevention, treatment and care services. Without concerted action, the goal of universal access will be impossible to achieve.

Most people diagnosed as HIV-positive have experienced some discrimination within the health sector, including delayed treatment and denial of treatment and care. People have lost their jobs, their homes, and even their children because their HIV-status was disclosed to others against their will. Some people living with HIV have experienced physical violence or have been killed by family or community members because of the gross fear and ignorance surrounding HIV and AIDS.
