Travel and Mobility

GNP+ has engaged with different partners on HIV related entry, stay and residence restrictions. For the last two years GNP+ engaged with the Civil Society Travel Restrictions Task Team, the travel and mobility group through the UNAIDS PCB, as well as the Global Fund, PEPFAR and others. The Task Team finished its work in 2009, but the network will take this area forward to expand work on HIV related entry, stay and residence restrictions.

In 2009, GNP+ had the experience of achieving a breakthrough towards a change from the restrictive entry, stay and residence regulations of Namibia. GNP+ also has advocated for a long time for the USA to lift its travel related restrictions and is proud to have been part of this advocacy push. In addition, in April 2010, China finally decided to lift its restrictions, something that GNP+ has advocated for as as part of the Global Fund Community delegation to the Board.
