GNP+NA is the North American affiliate of the Global Network of People living with HIV (GNP+). GNP+NA is an independent regional organization that aims to address the global pandemic by creating and sustaining an active North American network of people living with HIV working regionally. GNP+NA endorses the vision of GNP+ to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV.
GNP+NA operates a unique bilateral organization providing North American people living with HIV with opportunities to network, organize, and become part of a global movement. GNP+NA is implementing a series of activities to impact public policy-making by informing and mobilizing the HIV+ community around access to care and treatment; elimination of discrimination and stigma; and the implementation of the Greater Involvement of People living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) Principle.
GNP+NA is governed by a Board of Directors comprised equally of representatives of the United States and Canada. One director from each country represents GNP+NA on the GNP+ Global Board. To operationalize and manage implementation of its policies and activities GNP+NA works through a board appointed Regional Coordinator.
GNP+NA acts as the regional interlocutor of HIV policies, programs, and activities between regional-continental North America and the Global arena of public health and HIV inter-alia. It is precisely a regional network that focuses on policy advocacy, lobbying for practical and meangful inclusion of people living with HIV in decision making processes; linkages through regional and global discourse; knowledge sharing and capacity building, regionally and globally for all people living with HIV.
