The results of a cross analysis of results exploring issues of Late Testing and Late Treatment were presented in a plenary session, and a workshop with presentations from the five countries was held in Russian and English.  The workshop was attended by some 60 people from countries across the region.

The presentations from the five countries at the workshop contained discouragingly similar data:

  • High levels of inappropriate disclosure of HIV status, especially among medical staff;
  • Being gossiped about based on HIV status;
  • Denial of access to services and employment because of one's employment status.

All examples of PLHIV-related stigma that are known to impact adversely on people living with HIV accessing care, treatment, and support.

Presentations by the networks included:

  • Results from each of the countries;
  • Cross analysis of results exploring issues of late testing and late uptake of treatment;
  • The vision, methodology, and history of the People Living with HIV Stigma Index.

Participants discussed opportunities for regional advocacy arising from these  evidence informed results, as well as making plans for further implementation in two new countries in the European region - Germany and Greece.
