En una Consulta técnica internacional organizada por GNP+ y ONUSIDA en Túnez en abril de 2009, un grupo de personas que viven con el VIH trabajaron junto a la sociedad civil, agencias gubernamentales, organizaciones de desarrollo internacional, copatrocinadores de ONUSIDA y agencias donantes para desarrollar el concepto de “salud, dignidad y prevención positivas” y establecer los valores y principios que lo sustentan.

El término salud, dignidad y prevención positivas resalta y relaciona cuestiones en torno al tratamiento, la prevención, el apoyo y la atención relacionados con el VIH dentro de un marco de respeto de los derechos humanos.

La Consulta técnica internacional forma parte de un proceso en curso que pretende reforzar el liderazgo de las personas que viven con el VIH en el principio de salud, dignidad y prevención positivas. Actualmente se están celebrando más consultas a nivel regional, con la participación de las poblaciones clave, con el fin de establecer una comprensión común del concepto y ofrecer orientaciones para desarrollar políticas y programas en todo el mundo.

GNP+ and UNAIDS are developing Operational Guidelines on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention

GNP+ and UNAIDS continue their partnership on Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention with the development of Operational Guidelines, expected to be completed by January 2012 (non-field tested version).

The Operational Guidelines will complement the Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention Policy Framework by providing programmatic guidance in operationalizing the policy work on the subject to date, as well indicators to measure impact, progress and outcomes. The draft guidelines will be reviewed by networks of people living with HIV, UNAIDS Secretariat and Cosponsors, civil society organisations, governmental bodies, donors and development agencies.

Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention highlights the importance of placing the person living with HIV at the centre of managing their health and wellbeing. As a step towards operationalising Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention, GNP+ and UNAIDS have developed Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention: A Policy Framework (January 2011). The Policy Framework provides the broad concepts that represent the first steps towards operationalising Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention.

Consultations with people living with HIV on PMTCT

From December 2010 to February 2011, GNP+ and ICW Global held a series of consultations with people living with HIV to gather their perspectives and personal experiences on how programmes and services that seek to prevent the transmission of HIV from a mother to a child should be organised and run. The recommendations from people living with HIV were shared with the Interagency Task Team (IATT) for Prevention of HIV Infection in Pregnant Women, Mothers, and their Children to support them in strengthening a strategic framework they are developing for the primary prevention of HIV among women of reproductive age and the prevention of unintended pregnancies among women living with HIV (components 1 and 2 of PMTCT).

La comprensión de la prevención del VIH entre las personas que ya son seropositivas ha sido testigo de una revolución. El nuevo concepto de “salud, dignidad y prevención positivas” se centra en mejorar y mantener la dignidad de aquellos que viven con el VIH, lo que repercute positivamente en su salud y, al mismo tiempo, genera y promueve un entorno que ayudará a reducir las probabilidades de que se produzcan nuevas infecciones.

Consulta de GNP+, ONUSIDA y el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos sobre salud, dignidad y prevención positivas

GNP+, ONUSIDA y agencias del gobierno de los Estados Unidos (el Centro para el control y la prevención de enfermedades, el Departamento de Defensa y la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional) se reunieron en Ginebra los días 21 y 22 de octubre de 2009 para celebrar una consulta sobre salud, dignidad y prevención positivas. Las tres partes trabajan sobre la prevención del VIH con personas seropositivas. Durante la reunión exploraron las sinergias, diferencias y complementariedades de su trabajo programático sobre salud, dignidad y prevención positivas.
