UN High Level Meeting 2011
Networks of people living with HIV and civil society organizations involved in the HIV response are contributing in many ways to the United Nations High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS taking place from June 8 to 10 in New York. The HLM will be reviewing the results and commitments of United Nations member states following the original 2001 United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS.
During the 2001 UNGASS, the member states committed to achieving universal access to HIV treatment, prevention, care and support by 2010. As this target was not achieved, people living with HIV want to ensure the HIV response does not lose momentum while at the same time answering to the rights and needs of people living with HIV.
GNP+ is involved in different ways to support these voices of people living with HIV being heard at the HLM, and to promote and defend the rights and needs of people living with HIV.
