GNP’s Strategic Plan 2018-2021
The Global Network of People living with HIV (GNP+) has been at the forefront of the HIV response for the past 30 years. Driven by the needs of people living with HIV, we are part of a powerful, united social movement that strives to ensure that all voices of people living with HIV are heard.
The HIV response has changed immensely in recent years: HIV medications became more accessible, effective and less expensive; human rights of people living with HIV gained increasing recognition, and HIV services were increasingly scaled-up. However, in many parts of the world, the situation for people living with HIV has worsened. Stigma, discrimination, violence and criminalization of people living with HIV and key populations perpetuates significant structural challenges for communities that impede our ability to improve the health, safety and well-being of community members.
To meet the ever-growing needs and challenges of the HIV response, GNP+ has recognized the need to evolve with the times in order to continue to play an active role in guaranteeing the meaningful involvement and quality of life of people living with HIV. This strategic plan builds on past achievements and outlines our mission, vision, goal and purpose for the next three years. It also prioritises three core strategy areas that guide our work: engage; influence and demand accountability.
The plan was developed by drawing upon multiple approaches including a desk review of a number of key GNP+ documents and broader health and HIV-related literature, an online survey produced in English, French, Spanish and Russian, as well as key stakeholder interviews with individuals and organizations and a face-to-face meeting GNP+ Board meeting.
Our shared vision can only be achieved through stronger unity among us, especially in turbulent times. We are proud to present you with our roadmap for action – GNP+’s Strategic Framework for 2018-2021. It is our sincere hope that this Strategic Plan will bring us closer towards our shared and united vision for this world.
